What inspires you?

It’s easy to say “my family.” I love my husband and our two kids. They inspire me every single day to be a better wife and mami.

I’m also inspired by the beauty in nature. God’s creation blows me away! Like yesterday’s neon tangerine orange sunset seemed to stretch for miles and miles, covering the sky during my afternoon commute.

But last night, an incredible group of women, sharing their hearts and dreams, goals and passions, inspired me in profound ways.

I had the privilege to attend the kick-off of the #WomenInspired national tour with Prudential and DiMe Media last night at the very Hollywood glam Zaza Hotel in Houston.

Almost immediately I knew it was going to be a special event when one of the first women that I met was Elayna Fernandez, The Positive Mom. I’m a huge fan! It was surreal to not just meet such a successful mompreneuer, blogger and influencer, but hang out, take selfies and sit on the red couch for the #WomenInspired video discussions and interview.

We had a BLAST!

And I always love spending time with another amazing woman who inspires me, my fairy blog-mother, Connie Gomez, of Momma of Dos!

I would say Prudential and DiMe Media didn’t just meet, but surpassed the goal they set with this kick-off event.

That goal, ccording to Dorinda Walker, Vice President of Consumer Strategy & Key Initiatives, Multicultural Marketing, Prudential’s U.S. Businesses, was to:

“ … understand the specific challenges that multicultural women face and then empower them with financial solutions so they can be confident they are making the right decisions for themselves and their families.”

Our group was certainly multicultural … full of life, vibrant, vulnerable and fun! And one thing that seemed to resonate with each one of us, with the single women, young moms, moms of teens, etc…, was the need to balance the financial concerns of the present with saving, investing and planning for the future.

I am looking forward to seeing what Prudential and DiMe Media glean from other women as the tour takes other cities by storm, including one of my favorites, San Francisco!

And I’m looking forward to getting more practical tips and advice on how to become more financially savvy for my family now and for the future.

In the meantime, I’ll go back to making sure my 401k and 403b get rolled over from my old employers into a product that makes sense! (Gotta do research on that!) And I’ll add to my To Do list, “sit down with hubby and actually use Dave Ramsey’s Every Dollar app to set up next month’s budget.”

Sounds like a savvy financial plan to me!

Thanks for reading!
